We maintain a database of IT agencies. This uses three main tables.
Raw unfiltered records are put into the 'Market' table, and held there for six months.
Every week or so these are merged into the 'Contacts' table, duplicate contact information is deleted and some manual tidying up done.
Every few months the 'Contacts' table is merged into the 'Agencies' table, and reduced to one record per agency.
Information such as EMails from agencies, outgoing EMail failures is also used to update the 'Agencies' table.

There are currently
2819 agencies which we know about.
Of these there are
2326 where we have looked at their web site or seen contracts advertised and so think that they do IT contracts.

Which are worth sending CV's to is anyone's guess.
The only notes we keep about each agency are work areas (e.g. NE England Permanent Only).
The 'Contacts' and 'Market' tables are searchable, and can be used to find who is advertising in your skills or to get contact information.
e.g. if you get the usual answerphone message that Joe Bloggs phoned but no agency or phone number, then try seaching these tables.
There are downloadable comma delimited pages of agency EMail addesses and phone numbers on our Agency Links page.
The phone book is intended for loading into a Palm Pilot or similar.
The EMail lists allow you to bulk EMail irrelevant CV's to agencies.
An alternative is to EMail your CV to distribute@jobserve.com, who send it out to about 100 agencies and send a summary to about 500.
